April Empties

So sorry I have been absent for a while. I have just started a new position at another salon/spa and getting everything prepared has been quite stressful! Today I want to talk about my “empties” for the month of April.

Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Anti Aging Serum 1.7 oz.

Image Skincare is a professional, pharmaceutical line that is free of parabens and also cruelty-free. This is the product line that I use in my practice and also retail for homecare.  The Vital C Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum is a wonderful product for normal-oily/acne prone skin.  I, personally, am combination but very acne-prone.  This is also safe for use on sensitive/rosacea skin as well.  It contains a 15% blend of L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C) and Vitamin E (anti-oxidant). It also contains resveratrol (anti-oxidant) and green tea (anti-oxidant). The blend of poly-peptides help stimulate collagen renewal  similar to retinoic products without the irritancy. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that aids in water binding in our skin, which is a great hydrator for those of us on the normal-oily side.  This is such a great serum! It’s a great hydrator and free-radical fighter. It brightens the skin and offers anti-aging benefits. This product has a retail of $52.50 which is a wonderfully, affordable price for the amount of bang you’re getting in this bottle. Similar products can run over $100. I started using my full size bottle in October and has last me 6 months.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye (Concealer)

This has been my favorite concealer for masking my terrible under eye circles. It’s a full coverage, moisturizing and waterproof formula.  It contains Vitamin K, which helps to strengthen our blood flow and has been shown to aid in the decrease of under eye circles (November 2004 issue of “Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology), Vitamin A which helps to rebuild collagen and the antioxidants Vit C and Vit E which also help in brightening and aid in anti-aging.  I swear it’s an eye cream and concealer in one! This formula is used by the leading plastic surgeons in Brazil during post-treatment to hide bruising, etc. It’s non-comedogenic and hypo-allergenic. This product retails for $24 which is a modest amount for the ingredients included in this product. If you’re going to use an under eye concealer why not make it one that includes beneficial ingredients? It comes in 4 shades; Light, Neutral Medium, Tan, and Deep. I personally use the Light shade and I apply with my Royal & Langnickel Concealer Brush BX-50.

Image Skincare Daily Defense Universal Matte Moisturizer SPF 30

First off I would just like to say that Image has reformulated their sunscreen products. Previously I was using Daily Defense Universal Moisturizer Matte SPF 30. It contained 1% Titanium Dioxide, 7.5% Octyl Methoxycinnamate, 15% Homosalate and 5% Octyl Salicylate. It is a very light-weight moisturizer with UVA/UVB protection. It included mattifying properties that would keep oil under control throughout the day.  It also included the anti-oxidants Thiotaine and Green Tea for free radical protection.  This is seriously my favorite sunscreen/moisturizer. It absorbs quickly without a white cast and the scent is soothing. Also makes a great base for makeup.
